Vessel Performance Centre (VPC) is proud to announce its partnership with Be Química. This partnership is for sampling and microbiological testing in the ports of Algeciras and Gibraltar, both located at the western part of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Strait of Gibraltar is a key location for merchant shipping: more than 70,000 vessels pass through this strait every year and the Port of Gibraltar is a favourable location for vessels to refuel.
VPC covers all water types that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires to be tested in order to obtain a Vessel General Permit (VGP) for United States port calls: ballast -, gray -, bilge -, and scrubber exhaust wash (SEW) water as well as potable water. This partnership enables VPC to offer the services with the flexibility and high quality that our customers have come to expect from us.
The new partnership got off to a flying start, with the servicing of a first and second vessel in Gibraltar during its first week for a large repeat-client and leading dry-bulk shipowner. Paul Jacob Bins, Managing Director of Vessel Performance Centre states: “We are very proud of our new partnership with Be Química. We share the same entrepreneurial spirit, and I look forward to grow our business in Southern Spain with Be Química. This is a key region to add to our global network of ports where we provide our exemplary service. We aim to support our customers in their efforts to preserve marine biodiversity, also in the West-Med.”
Susana Muñoz, Managing Director of Be Química adds: “Our laboratory started earlier this year and we are proud of the recognition it gets as a modern, high-quality laboratory. This new partnership with the Vessel Performance Centre complements our other activities. It shows our drive to make a difference to our customers. Together we look forward to propel the shipping industry towards sustainability.”
